A camper trailer has a wind up mechanism used to open and set up the trailer. The bed ends then slide out from the front and the back. These are not to be confused with the tent trailers which are sometimes also called camper trailers. This is a cheaper alternative to a caravan making them popular with younger families.
Camper trailers are very easy to tow and very fuel economical while still providing many comforts of a caravan. Camper trailers are easy to set up when compared to a tent or tent trailer, a basic set up will take approximately 10 minutes while a full set up will take approximately 20 minutes.
The advantages of the camper trailer are:
- Lightweight to tow, with weights around 1,000kgs
- Large windows and very light inside, easily ventilated
- Cheaper to hire than a caravan
- Similar to towing a loaded 6×4 trailer
